For me it was the fifth episode I've seen. I stumbled upon the series when "1966" aired. Then came three more episodes which I fortunately taped and then there was the gap until season 2 aired. Eventually I caught the remaining episodes from season 1 during a rerun.

It's a wonderful episode and I agree about the perfect balance between police and vampire plot. I liked the way how Schanke got to solve the case, and how he backs Nick up.

I assume that Janette knew all along that Lacroix was back. When she mentions "the community" that probably means Lacroix.
