The flashbacks in "Hunters" are really interesting. From my perspective, he didn't really choose one over the other (rather, he chose himself over both of them.) To me, it was basically, you can keep up or you can't. He urges Nick to leave Janette when she falls behind and when Nick refuses, he leaves them *both* behind. At the house they shelter in, once they discover a trap door to a basement, LaCroix shuts it behind himself and Janette when Nick refuses to flee underground with them (in that instance, Nick effectively "fell behind" by insisting on staying on the surface.) Lucky for Nick, the basement was configured in such a way that one of their pursuers walked right over where Janette and LaCroix were and they were able to reach through the floorboards and give Nick an assist. I have to wonder about the circumstance of what led them to the events of that flashback and LaCroix's willingness to be like “fuck it" about whoever wasn't keeping up with the escape.

On the mobster in "The Fix,” I totally forgot about that guy! Nick ate that guy's spaghetti right off his plate as I recall lol. It would be interesting to know how Constantine and Spaghetti Mobster divvy up the city and lines of business. They must have some kind of agreement or there'd be gang warfare. Now that Constantine has the power of hypnosis, he's in a much better bargaining position if he and Spaghetti Mobster meet to negotiate terms.
