fkficfest prompt "this experiment went horribly wrong." But, you know, life got in the way and I just didn't finish it in time (maybe next year!). Then I got distracted by other stories. I liked this one though and decided to finally knuckle down and wrap it up.
Premise: Nick tries a new experimental drug treatment while he and Schanke work to unravel why someone would kill a man who was already dying. Set in season 2 sometime after "The Fix."
Case fic. Episode-like. We've got Nick and Schanke working on a case, Nick trying a new drug treatment courtesy of Natalie, and Nick having flashbacks to an earlier time.
Most of the season 2 gang is here. Everyone minus Janette. I love her but it didn't quite work out to include her in this story.

I categorized this as Gen. It does get a touch Nick/Nat for a moment. You know, in a typical FK way. I would not call it a Nick/Nat story.
