From [community profile] snowflake_challenge: Five Things! The five things are totally up to you.

Up to me, you say?

Well, here are five earworms. #SorryNotSorry

1. Po-TAY-toes
2. Pickwick Triplets
3. This version of Banana Phone
4. Baby Shark (of course, for you Ted Lasso fans, it’s Jamie Tartt)
5. Mahna Mahna

Because there is apparently karma in the universe, the “O’Reilly Auto Parts” jingle just came on the radio while I was finishing this post and will now be in my head all day.

Friends, I’m so excited! This week, I received a copy of the Highlander zine I've been trying to track down. This reunites me with another long lost fic of mine!

I shared some more info about the zine and a few scans from it in this post in [community profile] highlander_chat.

I read my story titled "Crossroads." It’s a weird feeling reading something you wrote but don’t remember well. I’ve had occasion to experience this bizarre sensation multiple times these past several months between the very old 90s FK stuff I hadn’t realized was still floating around out there; old Oz stuff, including a story from a print zine of 20 years ago; and now this Highlander story of over 20 years ago. Like reuniting with old friends!

The story I wrote is pretty good! It deals with fallout from the Horsemen, a Dark Quickening, and a fight for one’s soul with an unlikely ally. It features Methos, Duncan, Cassandra, Joe, and, in a sort of metaphysical way, the Horsemen. I can see tweaks I can make to improve it.

My main issue with this story, like with my Oz stories, is that my recall of the canon isn't good enough to entirely follow in certain places. My memory of Dark Quickenings is vague (like, they're bad... but, what are they?). My recall of Cassandra as a character could certainly be better. Also, what did they do with all the bodies of the people they fought and killed? (This was a big thing that bugged me in my story. I left a body in an alley in Paris. Who cleans up after an Immortal showdown? The Watchers? That doesn't feel quite right. IDK lol, but the cops didn't look into it.)

The story is of a decent length (it took me over an hour to read it), so it will be a pain in the ass to transcribe. At some point, I’ll try scanning it and seeing if OCR can transcribe it for me.
