Forever Knight show memorabilia

thefruitbat, hopefully of interest to you since we were discussing this stuff the other day. I took photos of the Forever Knight show stuff I picked up at auction in 1997. I thought you might get a kick out of it :-)

As I mentioned before, it was a convention/auction. I picked up a few things from the auction itself. I picked up other things at the event as well, but the actual auction stuff is probably the most interesting. They sold over 200 things at auction to raise money for charity.

A couple comments before the photos:

• I said before that I picked up two original scripts: "Sons of Belial" and "Last Knight." That was a memory misfire. I picked up an original script for "Sons of Belial" only. I must have connected with other fans there and we photocopied scripts for each other. So it's a photocopy that I have of "Last Knight" (as well as "Strings" and "Night in Question," which I had forgotten I had until digging around in the box this stuff was in). I think the "Last Knight" script just seared itself in my brain.

• I mentioned before that the auction catalogue has a lot of funny descriptions. It also kicked up some fun trivia recollections for me. Another time, I'll pull some of that info together.

• I have a bunch of notes in the auction catalogue and could tell you what almost everything there sold for. Biggest ticket item was Nick's badge, which went for $4,000.

Now, to the memorabilia I picked up at the auction.

Item #1: Sons of Belial prop book: "Exorcism and the Modern World." No such book exists. It was made for the show. It is quite detailed so they put a fair amount of effort into it (they did not, however, bother to spellcheck it, which you'll notice if you read the back cover). I should clarify, it's just the dust cover that was made for the show and then put over an actual book. Anyway, Tracy and Nick find it in the victim's apartment in the episode.

Item front cover, spine, back cover, and front inside flap. There was also text on the back inside flap, but it's identical to the text on the back cover and inside flap:










The texture of the book cover feels slightly "off"/not exactly smooth. I am not sure what kind of ink was used to make it. You can see there is some bleed to the ink.



I asked Nigel Bennett and Jon Cassar to sign this. Jon Cassar directed a number of episodes, but not "Sons of Belial" so I'm not sure why I asked him to sign it. Probably because he was there.



Item #2: Sons of Belial original script: This actually sold for more than the prop book, which seems kind of surprising to me thinking back. The pages are different colors, but I don't know the significance of the colors. I assume it has something to do with how things are done/revised when shooting for television.

Item #3: LaCroix's coat: This was worn in the flashback in "Outside the Lines." The auction catalogue description mentions the fedora from the flashback as well, which was auctioned off separately and before the coat (and sold for quite a bit more perhaps because it was a real hat, unlike the coat, which is totally a costume item).

Coat from the front. You can just barely, kind of see here how the hem is unfinished/uneven (I have closer pictures below). It's very much a costume piece only. The vinyl is stitched directly onto a lining. It's pretty long. Nigel Bennett is a tall dude.

Sorry it's pretty wrinkled. I've moved a lot and it's just been in and out of boxes over the years. It's vinyl so it's not like I can iron it.



Back of coat:



In these two pictures, you can see how it is uneven and unfinished at the bottom. There would be no reason to finish it. It's not like anyone watching the show would see this.






This item came with a certificate of authenticity. Not sure why other items didn't, but not everything did. The prop book did not. I actually have a note that I asked about it.



That's it!! It's been fun re-visiting this stuff. Most of it has just been knocking around in a box labeled "mementos" for a looooooong time (coat was the only thing stored separately). All this digging around in old memories, I feel like some kind of archaeologist :-)

Did you see that the prop book has its own article on the wiki? I wonder if you'd let me use your photos so people who read the wiki can see all the details.
