Just checked and it's still down. On Bluesky the kiddos are sobbing. This is from one hour ago: "[update] Investigating: #AO3 will remain down for at least several hours until we can consult our database vendor's support team and resolve the underlying issue. We're very sorry for the inconvenience."

Sounds like it could be something Really Bad, usually downtimes are announced in advance.

They seem to be back. I wonder if it was some kind of malicious attack. It occurs to me that I should download copies of my fics as a back up!

I have versions in Google Docs, but I still do a fair amount of tweaking things on AO3 before (and even after) posting so only AO3 has the final versions.

Maybe DDOS? I'm sure there will be an update.

I made a Squidgeworld account to backup my fics. It's the same code as AO3 so not much of a hassle.

As a chronic tinkerer with my fics, having them on a second site would make me nuts lol.

But now AO3 is down again so I do see the merit.

It's a bit aggravating, but since you can just c&p the entire chapters you're editing it really has it's merits.

Estamos quase chegando no fim do mês e a saga do ao3 ficar caindo ainda é algo real. Toda vez que abro o Tumblr vejo alguém comentando sobre o medo que eles tem do site cair enquanto estão lendo ou postando algo. Ou há alguém dizendo que está tendo problemas para carregar as páginas. Infelizmente estou vendo algumas pessoas declamando o fim do site, dizendo que esses são indícios que em breve ele deixará de existir. Eu não gostaria de imaginar isso nunca jamais.
