I think we've canonically established Nick is a total fuck up when it comes to making other vampires.
We've got:
Wife. Killed her instead of turning her.
Rando he found on the beach. She made it, what, a day or two? Then he killed her.
Plague doctor. He maybe made it a bit longer than beach rando, at least until the townsfolk got wise and killed him (Nick doing nothing to stop them).
Richard Lambert. Another short-termer who Nick killed. I wish there'd been more fallout from this. But Richard was (to my recollection) never to be mentioned again.
(And with the above, Nick gets awfully vexed when people he turns into vampires act, you know, like vampires.)
Serena. Still alive, but hates Nick's guts. I would have liked to see her again because it's an interesting tension that she despises him, but they both ultimately want the same thing.
Janette (?). Assuming he did bring her over, he did it against her wishes. Though we don’t know how she feels about that.
Am I missing anyone?
Not a great track record!

(And let's be honest, Serena wasn't really good in the communication department. But neither was Nick. XD )

Agreed that Serena could have been more clear, but I think the greater onus was on Nick in that situation. Like come ON, Nick, get it together.

As much as Nick despises being the focus of Lacroix's attention, his habit of killing everyone else might imply he doesn't want Lacroix's focus to shift either.

Date: 2023-08-30 10:52 pm (UTC)Did Nick know about Alyce? I've had the impression he didn't (I could be wrong).
Divia certainly had to go, but at the same time, Nick could have waited until the moment after she killed LaCroix instead of the moment she was about to. I will have some Thoughts on this when I get to commentary on "Ashes to Ashes."
I've got to re-watch "Francesca." It's in the queue. My recollection is Nick killed her because he disapproved of her cultivating artists and musicians so she could kill them. Fine "vintages" and all that. But she was like a perfect vampire daughter for LaCroix (respectful, beautiful, sophisticated, kills humans... she checks all the boxes!) so one wonders how he took Nick killing her. (Idk, maybe the episode addresses it, I can't remember. Will know more on the re-watch.)
At the end of the day, it seems Nick is a real menace to other vampires!
And, oh man, Daniel. I have thought a lot about him. So many unanswered questions. I've been working on a fic with him, but he's a challenge and a half to write.

I wondered about that, too and have addressed this in my story Stalemate, if you're interested.
